Raleigh and Cary Senior Portrait Photographer | Zach

We were all set for a deluxe senior portrait session in Raleigh and then at the track in Cary… Until we realized there were no lines on the track because it needed to be repainted! As much as I like to think I am a photoshop expert, photoshopping the lines on a track is not something I’m sure I could do and even if I could, not something I would enjoy! Zach and his family were great being flexible to have the first hour of the senior portrait session in Raleigh and scheduling the second part of the senior portrait session in Cary at a later date. This worked out perfectly and gave Zach an opportunity to wear some fall clothes that would have been too hot for the senior portraits in the summer!

Apex Senior Portraits | Anna

Anna’s senior portrait session was at a vintage gas station in Apex, a great location that offered a unique atmosphere for her senior portraits. Anna was kind enough to let her brother hop in a few portraits and we also got a few cute dog portraits! Anna picked a great location and did a great job during her senior portrait session. Where did 2012 go? The last year was a great, record breaking year for Evan Pike Photography, but the last quarter of the year filled my schedule with portrait sessions, NCAA football and basketball games, NFL games and I was probably one of the only Carolina Hurricanes hockey fans that was actually a little happy that Raleigh’s pro hockey team and the NHL were locked out as I needed a little break (VERY happy to start NHL games soon though)! Something had to give, and unfortunately, it was my blog posts. In 2012, I photographed almost 100 seniors in Cary, Raleigh and Apex for their senior portraits and thought it would be nice if I blogged about some of them before they all graduated in a few months!

First up, John. As you can probably guess, this senior is a golfer! As I’m writing this post, it is snowing outside, but I don’t miss the heat and humidity we had that hot August day in Cary! It was great idea to take John’s portrait’s on the golf course, where he felt at home.

After so much trouble with weather in Cary and Raleigh for my previous 2013 high school senior portrait sessions, even though there was only a 10% chance of rain, I was sure we woud have trouble with the weather for Elizabeth’s senior portraits. Luckily, after some senior portraits in the studio, the only rain we got was during the drive from Cary to Raleigh to finish the on location senior portraits! Glad it worked out that way, Elizabeth did a great job during her senior portrait session and we came away with some beautiful senior portraits.

Chloe and I set the record for the most times having to reschedule her senior portrait session because of the weather in Cary and Raleigh! Her senior portrait session must have gotten rained out 5 times! Thanks for being so flexible Chloe! Being patient for the senior portraits was certainly worth it as we came away with some great senior portraits in Cary and Raleigh. We started out with a few portraits in my studio in Cary and while most of my senior portraits are more nature based, Chloe wanted to have her senior portrait session downtown and using some graffiti wall, so that is what we did! Great job Chloe, your photos rock!

Like my previous 2013 senior portrait session in Raleigh, the weather required us to reschedule Aby’s senior portrait session. No matter though, we had a wonderful time taking photos in fields, flowers and trees around Cary and Raleigh. Raleigh Portrait Photographer | Erika

I was lucky enough to work with Erika on two different portrait sessions. She is in college now, but told me she actually never got around to having senior portraits done, so these photos will kind of count as her high school senior portrait photographs. She is also, starting her career as a model so in addition to the photos kind of counting as senior portraits we were hoping to come away with photos to expand her portfolio. I’ve worked with my fair share of models and Erika was as professional and easy to work with as they come. Not to mention very considerate and a wonderful communicator. It was a pleasure being her portrait photographer and am looking forward to seeing her career as a model reach great heights!

2013 Raleigh Senior Portrait Photographer | Kjersti

Even though the weather had other plans for my 2013 high school senior portrait sessions, I was finally able to photograph my first high school senior of the class of 2013! Between Kjersti and my other few seniors scheduled in May, I had to reschedule about 9 senior portrait session because of the weather! No problem though and ended up with a perfect day, much cooler than when I photographed her sister a few years ago when she was a senior, for senior portrait photography. Kjersti is a wonderful dancer and her beauty and gracefulness surely showed through in her photo session! After growing up with my sister dancing, I’ve always found it interesting how dancers, even when they are just walking, seem to have no wasted movements and look so graceful even when they are just walking! It was a perfect portrait session to start out my 2013 high school senior portrait sessions and I could say more, but theses senior portraits say it for me!

Raleigh Bar Mitzvah Photographer | Ian

I’ve been to and photographed my fair share of Bar/Bat Mitzvahs but it’s always fun to see how creative a family get’s while planning the mitzvah and the little special touches that make each Bar and Bat Mitzvahs different. There was certainly a lot of creative planning for Ian’s Bar Mitzvah at the Raleigh-Durham General Aviation Terminal, at RDU. It was a wonderful open space, with lots of natural light and very friendly staff. All the details of the Bar Mitzvah were carefully planned and helped to create a fun atmosphere… especially for the kids! Some other special touches the family put on their Bar Mitzvah was the cake (theme was traveling around the USA) and Ian is a hockey player so they turned a hockey stick into a candle holder for the candle lighting ceremony. Very cool details! Evan Pike Photography was also providing the green screen photo booth for the party! As you can tell by the photos, the kids were dancing and having a wonderful time all night. Of course I also had a wonderful time photographing the Bar Mitzvah and helping the family celebrate with my photography! Mazel Tov Ian!

Raleigh Bat Mitzvah Photographer | Deena

I’m always happy to return to the Raleigh Renaissance Hotel. I have so many wonderful memories both as a guest at my own wedding and working as a wedding or bar and bat mitzvah photographer at the Raleigh Renaissance Hotel at North Hills, Raleigh. Deena’s Bat Mitzvah was another wonderful event that I was happy to be the photographer for. Not only was I the photographer for the bat mitzvah, but also the Happy Smile Photo Booth was rented to get fun and unique photos of the bat mitzvah guests during the celebration. And this Bat Mitzvah was quite the celebration that the family and friends all had a good time at. The girls almost immediately took off their shoes to start the bat mitzvah party, so I knew it was going to be a party filled with a lot of dancing. Of course it was also filled with lot’s of love and good times for the family and guests as the celebrated the wonderful milestone for Deena and her family.

I don’t mind when teams break out special uniforms for games. In fact, I wouldn’t mind seeing different shoes or jerseys more often. As you can tell by the design of this website, I’m a fan of the color grey. So it should come to no surprise that I loved the all grey UNC jerseys! Senior night at UNC was a great one to photograph.

The Georgia Tech vs University of North Carolina basketball game was part of The American Cancer Society’s Coaches vs. Cancer program. Carolina was sporting pink Air Jordans which looked great (but I’m glad they didn’t go with pink uniforms like they went with all grey for senior night). Like most basketball games, it was fun photographing this game as well and it’s always good when we can raise awareness for something like cancer research.

Rivalry games are always fun to photograph. When NCSU and UNC play, there is certainly a little more atmosphere in the Dean E. Smith Center than other games, besides the Duke game anyway! I’ve always felt that fans care way more about rivalries than the actually players do, I guess fan is short for fanatic!
