For Chris’s senior portrait session, he wanted to show his love for golf so he originally decided to have his senior portrait session at a golf course. When arriving at the golf course, it was a little crowded so we made a last minute decision to have the senior portrait session in Downtown Raleigh. 2012 – 2013 Sports Photography

It’s been a great sports season so far! Once again, I had the privilege to take photos at UNC, NCSU and Duke basketball and football games, as well as the Carolina Hurricanes and Carolina Panthers. I had quite a few photos published online on various websites from small town publications to ESPN.com an SI.com. Also had some photos published in ESPN the Magazine and Sports Illustrated, including a two page feature in SI’s “leading off” pages. My personal highlight was photographing the ACC tournament and being on the court photographing (and celebrating with in spirit) when the school I graduated from won their first ACC Championship (go canes)! For senior portrait sessions, I usually suggest that seniors bring along mom or another close family member to help with outfits and to hold the iPad to instantly see the photos I’m taking…. But because his mom was traveling internationally, he decided to rock his senior portrait session on his own, and he did a great job! That just meant my assistant/stylist for his photo session had to carry the iPad for us. Check out the images from his senior portrait session below!

This senior portrait session was unique because I photographed not one, but two seniors! Instead of having two separate senior portrait sessions, Maggie and Katie chose to share the senior portrait experience as sisters at a beautiful park in Raleigh. They really enjoyed having their senior portrait session together and kept me on my toes photographing one as the other changed in to the next outfit. Because of her love for literary works and the theater, Nicole began her senior portrait session at her school’s library in Cary. After we finished shooting there, we moved outdoors to a nearby park where we took a few images with her adorable dog—it’s always fun when beloved pets come along! Durham Portrait Photographer | Leo

I had been looking forward to Leo’s sports portrait session since I heard the details of what his mother had in mind—fencing portraits! This meant heading to his fencing club, Mid-South Fencers’ Club in Durham for his portrait session. The fencing club itself made for a great background to take portraits as it had lot’s of character (note to self, potential location for some future Durham senior portait sessions). Like I would have been at his age (or even now), Leo was a little uneasy about having his portrait made at first, but he soon warmed up and did a great job. He even taught me a little about fencing, for example, the fencer’s sword isn’t actually called a sword—it’s a sabre. I really enjoyed documenting Leo’s incredible talent, which recently he earned some national points at a tournament with! Check out the images from his portrait session below!

Kelly had an awesome senior portrait session in Raleigh. Kelly wanted to take her senior portraits at her favorite park in Raleigh. I’m always happy when the seniors have a favorite location in mind for senior portraits. Not only does it let me explore Raleigh a little more but the seniors always feel a little more comfortable getting their photos taken in a familiar place. That being said, Kelly was very comfortable in front of the camera and probably would have been taking her senior portraits anywhere! Great job Kelly!
