As a fellow basketball player, it was easy for me to relate to AJ right away… also I could tell he was about as excited to get his senior portraits done as I was when I was a high school senior looking for a senior portrait photographer!  That being said, by the end of the senior portrat session, I’m pretty sure he enjoyed it!  Or in his words, “it wasn’t so bad” which I think is a win for most guys getting senior photos!

So yeah, I feel a little behind on my senior portrait photographer blog posts! Between starting up college and professional sports photography again, senior portraits, school photography and guiding photo tours of Japan, the blog got placed on the back burner for a bit! There are still quite a few senior portraits to be blogged… First up is Connor. A very sweet girl that was very confident in front of the camera and it showed on her great senior portraits!

Sports Photographer | UNC vs Wisconsin

I love my job. While football season was fun, since I grew up playing basketball, in the middle of ACC country, I’m always looking forward to basketball season.  The UNC vs Wisconsin game was the first game of the season for me, and a great way to start!  The featured image on this post was also picked up by Sports Illustrated’s Photo Blog which is always cool.

Not sure if I will go to a bowl game, so the Duke at UNC football may be the last NCAA football I photograph this season. I’ve enjoyed getting back to my roots of sports photography, especially college football which has a great atmosphere! Next football game is Atlanta at Carolina Panthers, anyone else going?

I’ve photographed a few Carolina Hurricanes Hockey games for Cal Sport Media and I decided to just combine two in one blog post.  Haven’t had too many chances to photograph ice hockey, so it’s always fun to try something new!

Sports Photography | Miami Hurricanes vs UNC Tarheels

I couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather for football than what we had last Saturday in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.  About 70, beautiful Carolina Blue Skies, no humidity, just perfect.  As somebody that grew up as a Tarheel, then went to the University of Miami for undergrad, when Miami and UNC play, I am always a little torn.  I usually root for whichever team is having the better season so at least one of them can have a better chance to get a BCS, but it usually turns out they always ruin each other’s season.  That being said, I’m never sad to see Miami win!  Thanks again to Cal Sport Media for having me photograph for them.

After the summer was trying to last a little longer, I was very excited for a cool fall day at Carter-FInely Stadium to photograph the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs North Carolina State Wolfpack for Cal Sport Media.  I was not so excited about NCSU students and fans playing cornhole all over the parking lot I had reseved parking in (who knew it was such a popular game)!

While photographing in the rain can be fun, when there is enough rain to issue flash flood warning and having to wade through about a foot of water to get to the field, not so much fun! Actually, who am I kidding, photographing any football game is fun and I was excited about photographing the Panthers game for Cal Sport Media.

Ben opted for a senior portrait session part in studio and part on location, both of which turned out awesome. Once again, I was lucky to photograph a high school senior guy that is comfortable and confident infront of the camera. Great job Ben!

Garrett continued the streak of high school senior guys that do much better infront of the camera than I do. He is a very easy going, which made him look very natural in his senior portraits. Also, I got to learn a little more about one of the top places on my list I wanna go to, the Galapagos Islands where their family had the chance to visit this summer (yes, I’m super jealous)!

Averett was another senior guy that seemed to be very comfortable infront of the camera. Just minutes into the session he was changing up smiles with serious with looking at me and looking away almost as if he could read my mind or just could anticipate what I wanted him to do during his senior portrait session.

Whenever I photograph guys for their senior portraits, I always worry that they will be like me infront of the camera and be awkward. Didn’t have to worry at all for Aaron! No matter what I asked of him during his senior portrait session, he stayed cool, calm and comfortable! Great job Aaron!

Sports Photographer | Stanford Cardinal vs Duke Blue Devils

Sep 11 | Evan | Comments Off on Sports Photographer | Stanford Cardinal vs Duke Blue Devils |

Once again thanks to Cal Sport Media, I was photographing some NCAA football. This time might Stanford made their way into Durham to take on the Duke Blue Devils. While this would have been a great match up during most basketball seasons, I think we all knew where this one was headed…

Sports Photographer | James Madison at UNC NCAA Football

Sep 03 | Evan | Comments Off on Sports Photographer | James Madison at UNC NCAA Football |

It’s been a little while, but thanks to Cal Sport Media, I was back in Keenan Stadium today for the James Madison vs UNC football game today. It took me about a quarter to get back into the swing of the speed of NCAA football, but overall, I’m happy with what I came away with. Congrats to UNC on a great start to a season and to Bryn Reenner who set a UNC completion percentage record completing 22 out of 23 passes (95.7%), but actually, the one pass he didn’t complete was an interception, so technically 100% percent of his passes were caught today! Pretty incredible for anyone, let alone a first time starter!
