    Wow.

Where to begin!? Good thing I am a photographer, because I am having trouble coming up with the right words to describe just how awesome of a party this was! This Halloween Bat Mitzvah was not your typical costume party (or typical Bat Mitzvah for that matter)! Moreover, the family was one of the nicest and most loving families I have ever met. Don’t get me wrong, I have a great family and a wonderful, loving relationship with my parents and sister, but Alex’s family is just bursting with love and anyone who has the pleasure of meeting them can immediately see this. It was a very special Bat Mitzvah, for a very special family and I am so thankful that I was given the opportunity to document the day! Oh, and did I mention that just about everything was a surprise to Alex!? Her parents did an incredible job of planning out the event and put together an amazingly “wicked” cast of vendors for this Wicked themed party:

    • Lauren Kennedy || staring as Elphaba
    • Andrea Schultz Twiss || staring as Glinda
    • Ray Walker || staring as Fiyero
    • Randy Wogick || staring as the party organizer and planner
    • “B” Sharp Productions || staring as the band and DJ
    • CE Rental || set design (elegant linens, chairs, cushions, chargers, salad plates)
    • English Garden || art decoration (gorgeous flowers and table pieces)
    • Showtime Events || visual effects (incredible wall and table lighting)
    • Swank Cake Design || Wicked (and of course delicious) cake
    • Charlie Weeks || cinematographer (did the video of the service and the party)
    • Maria Steiner || costume designer (service and evening gowns for all girls in the family)
    • Megan Brewer || catering manger at the Raleigh Renaissance Hotel

Also, I want to thank Megan and Dean from the Raleigh Renaissance Hotel! Not only did they do a fantastic job with this Bat Mitzvah, but were incredible for me as well for my own wedding at the Renaissance!

Congratulations to Alex and a HUGE thank you to the whole family!

    My Wedding

On May 16th, 2009, Satomi and I got married in Raleigh, NC at Temple Beth Or and had our reception at The Raleigh Renaissance Hotel at North Hills. Again I want to thank everyone that made it possible and helped out. We had a great time and think all of the guests did as well! I am a good photographer, but not good enough to shoot my own wedding and be part of it at the same time! So, all the photos on this post are by Patrica Suzanne. Thanks Patty!

    My Wedding in Japan

So… This past weekend, I was shooting a wedding in Georgia with Andrew Bryant Photography, and suddenly realized, my wedding here in the states is (at that time) in 2 week–As I write this post it is less! Naturally, thinking about our wedding here in Raleigh, North Carolina, making arrangements and her family coming over here, has made me think about our time (and wedding) in Japan. Then I realized, I never posted anything about it, so here you are! Since we always knew that we were going to do one in Japan and one in the USA, we decided to keep the one in Japan as simple (and affordable) as possible. We didn’t have a religious ceremony at all, but instead had what was basically a lunch reception. Now what you have to understand, in Japan, there is always an after party and usually an after after party (each time the group gets smaller). So after the reception, we went to another party/reception with a few of the same people but while the first party was mainly for families and parent’s friends and coworkers, the second party was mainly for our friends. After that, there was an after after party and then even an after after after party that Satomi and I didn’t even attend but her friends still wanted to celebrate, party and drink more! After a full 12 hours of celebrating, partying and running around Tokyo, we were exhausted. Whew. I am getting tired again just thinking about that day! In any case, here are some photos from before and during the lunch reception at the Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka. Photographs were taken by my good friend Greg Logan.

Get Your Rear in Gear Raleigh, NC

March 7th, 2009 was the inaugural Get Your Rear in Gear 5k at Fred Fletcher Park, in Raleigh, North Carolina and I was the official photographer for the race that was raising awareness of colon and rectal cancer and positively impact screening rates. When I was in high school, I use to run track and cross country (although Satomi cannot believe I used to be able to run a 4:38 mile…actually, neither can I come to think of it) but this was my first time photographing a race. Overall it went well, but since I tried to take a few photos of every participant (over 600 of them) I easily ended up with over 3000 photographs in just over an hour! If you were a participant, or just want to see a lot of race photos, the photos from the Get Your Rear in Gear 5k are all over in my gallery.

December 28th, 2008, I was lucky enough to tag along with Brian Mullins Photography for Cindy and Neil’s wedding. It was a beautiful wedding with some really lovely people making it easy to photograph. The service was at Church of the Good Shepard in downtown Raleigh and the reception followed at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary.

Thank you to Brian Mullins Photography and to Cindy and Neil for letting me be a part of your special day!
